Here is the lesson today. We are going to learn some Chinese adverbs such as a little bit 一點, 一點點, bit by bit, little by little 一點一滴 combining with some example phrases for your experience of speaking modern Mandarin. Please watch the following video for the lesson today:
The first phrase:
more slowly
慢一點
màn yì-diǎn
慢(slow) + 一點(a little bit)
it's the combination of 2 words:
slow
慢
màn
and
a little bit
一點
yì-diǎn
一(one) + 點(some, a little)
Let's extend the phrase to a longer sentence:
Would you please speak more slowly.
請你說慢一點
Qǐng nǐ shuō màn yì-diǎn
請你(would you please) + 說(speak) + 慢(slow) + 一點(a little bit)

Let's extend the phrase to a longer sentence:

The 3rd phrase, it's a little bit difference from the previous example:
a little bit
一點點
yì-diǎn-diǎn
一(one) + 點(some, a little) + 點(some, a little)
note: the adverb 一點(a little bit) and the adverb/adjective 一點點(a little bit, a bit of) are very similar in modern Chinese, maybe 一點點(a little bit, a bit of) has one more character 點(point) than 一點(a little bit), it could be used to emphasize how tiny the degree for the description with other words (verb, noun) in the sentence.
Let's extend the phrase to a longer sentence:
I can speak a little bit of Chinese.
我會說一點點中文
Wǒ huì shuō yì-diǎn-diǎn zhōng-wén
我會(I can) + 說(speak) + 一點點(a little bit) + 中文(Chinese)
for the phrases and words within the sentence:

The 4th phrase, it's a Chinese idiom:
bit by bit, little by little
一點一滴
yì diǎn yì dī
一點(a little bit) + 一滴(a drop)
combining 2 words together:

一滴
yì dī
一(one) + 滴(drop, drip)
Let's extend this 4-character idiom 一點一滴(bit by bit, little by little) to a Chinese quotation:
accumulate energy bit by bit
一點一滴累積能量
yì diǎn yì dī lěi-jī néng-liàng
一點一滴(bit by bit) + 累積(accumulate) + 能量(energy)
for the phrases and words within the quotation:
